Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation, review, and maintenance of accounting records in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Work Responsibilities

Functional Category: Accounting Administration

Estimated Percent of time Spent 100 %

  • Assists with the daily functions of the accounting department
  • Analyzes and interprets complex accounting transactions in accordance with (GAAP) rules and regulations.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly balance sheets, income statements and account reconciliations in order to analyze and ensure documentary evidence and financial transaction integrity.
  • Prepares and analyzes monthly journal entries and reports.
  • Performs monthly general ledger close.
  • Prepares financial statements on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Assists with the review of financial statements and provides variance analysis.
  • Ensures that financial statements are in compliance with GAAP, InnovAge policies/procedures and governmental requirements.
  • Contributes mentorship and guidance to employees of the accounting organization
  • Reviews current processes and procedures, and makes recommendations and/or changes as needed.
  • Assists with the annual audit.
  • Assists with corporate tax preparation
  • Performs special projects as assigned or as needed.

  • Bachelors degree in accounting from an accredited college/ university

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of five years of accounting experience required
  • Current and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and experience with establishing internal controls and process improvements.
  • Strong computer and Microsoft Office Suite skills, with advanced Microsoft Excel ability.


Licensure, Certification, Registration or Designation

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or currently on CPA track is preferred.

Work Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience with corporate tax preparation preferred
